Alexis Cole at Sarasota Jazz Festival (updated)

New York-based singer Alexis Cole's quintet, featuring tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, performed Friday night at the 34th annual Sarasota Jazz Festival.

Cole's band also included pianist John di Martino, bassist David Finck and drummer Kenny Washington. Here's a link to my concert review for JazzTimes.com.

The festival ended its week-long run Saturday, March 1 with a concert at The Players Theatre featuring pianist Dick Hyman and clarinetist Ken Peplowski. The reed player was honored with the Jazz Club of Sarasota's annual Satchmo Award for his contributions to jazz.

Major concerts earlier in the week featured trumpeter Charlie Bertini's Orlando-based quintet and saxophonists Peter and Will Anderson.
